Perhaps you want to disable the HomeGroup feature in windows 7?
This article will show you how to disable homegroup in windows 7/vista – and what services required by this cruddy feature.

First, look at a picture of the homegroup in explorer:

Make sure you have the following services (start > Run > services.msc > click ok) set to manual and started:
Function Discovery Provider Host
Function Discovery Resource Publication
Peer Networking Identity Manager
Peer Name Resolution Protocol
Peer Networking Grouping
HomeGroup Listener
HomeGroup Provider

After you have Micro$loths plethora of useless services running …. go to:
Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Choose homegroup and sharing options
And click “Leave the HomeGroup”

Now you can go back and shut down those useless services that Micro$loth made you start in the first place.
The “old fashioned way” to share at this point is simply to right click a folder and then click “share with people”, add the people you want to share with.
Perhaps that was to complicated and we NEED Home Group … ?
Nah.
