What is an outbound voice AI bot?#
An outbound voice bot is an AI agent that places phone calls automatically on behalf of your business. Unlike the inbound voice receptionist that answers calls, outbound bots initiate them. They call leads from your CRM, follow a configured conversation script, qualify the prospect, handle objections, and either book an appointment or log the outcome. Is outbound AI calling legal?#
Yes, when done correctly. The rules depend on the contact type:
- Existing customers and leads who opted in - You can call them. Consent was captured at form submission, point of sale, or service agreement.
- Cold outreach - Subject to TCPA regulations. Prior express consent is required for automated calls to cell phones. We configure compliance rules, opt-out handling, calling windows (no calls before 8am or after 9pm local time), and Do Not Call list scrubbing.

Does the person know they are talking to AI?#

With concurrent calling enabled, that number scales. The practical limit is usually your list size and compliance rules (calling windows, frequency caps), not the AI’s capacity.
What happens when someone answers?#
The AI identifies itself, states the purpose of the call, and enters the configured conversation flow. For lead follow-up, it might say: “Hi, this is [name] from [business]. You inquired about [service] - I’m calling to see if you still need help and get you on the schedule.” From there, the AI qualifies, answers questions, handles objections, and moves toward booking or next steps.
What if nobody answers?#
